"I recently attended a Sips N'Sourdough class at BYV and really enjoyed the entire evening. Jennie was very good at explaining the process of making sourdough and encouraged questions and participation. I loved that I went home with instructions and recipes to make bread including focaccia and cookies. Jennie's recipe was well constructed and easy to follow. She also is available to answer questions through email if I need any help and or advice. A fun experience!"

I found it so helpful to be able to actually do the stretch and fold method and observe the techniques for using the banneton, lame and Dutch oven. This workshop was fabulous!"

Jennie clearly explained the process, gave some scientific facts , used visuals on a chart and had delicious samples. It was fun being in a brewery and Jennie had a great sense of humour."

"Eat bread they said, It will be fun they said…and it was! I had the pleasure of attending one of Jennie’s sourdough work classes. She provided everything (including a few funny analogies) that we needed to make our own sourdough, plus step- by-step recipes for when we go home. Jennie explains the science behind sourdough, which helps you to understand the whole concept of bread-making. Once I got home, I was having trouble remembering everything (take notes). I was a little worried because my starter was not behaving the way it should have. I named my sourdough starter “Ima Rising”, but at one point, I was worried “Ima was dying”. I reached out to Jennie through email, who was happy to help me out as much as I needed her. (Great customer service). With her expertise and knowledge, she was able to walk me through what I should do. We had a “few” back-and-forth emails, and I was finally able to get my starter to behave. Hence, my first loaf of sourdough bread had risen. It's more than just “making bread”. It's therapeutic, experimental, and let's not forget the whole healthy gut thing. Yes, you could go buy bread, but the satisfaction you get after making your first loaf leaves you with a sense of achievement. In these current times of uncertainty, and being mindful of our spending, why not join a class, support our local small businesses, take home a few dried-up flakes of starter dough and watch it come to life. I highly recommend signing up for one of Jennie’s classes. She is extremely knowledgeable in the art of sourdough, the class is a few fun hours, and she does not just end the class and that’s it. She is available to help long after the class ends. Best part of all, she brings bread to eat at the end . Win, Win."

"I took the beginner sourdough class and loved every minute of it! Everything was explained in such a simple way which made it super easy to follow, even as a total beginner. The vibe of the class was super chill, and it honestly just felt so friendly. If you’re even a little curious about sourdough, this class is totally worth it!"
